This Report Cards update offers an additional insight into the Congress
members'
stance on issues. It is based not only on a large number of roll call votes
but also on cosponsorship of more than 400 pieces of
legislation. There are many
interesting bills introduced in Congress that never get voted on because
the leadership does not want the votes to take place. By registering as a
legislation's
official cosponsor, a member shows real interest in and support for the
legislation.
A large number of cosponsors also increases the chance that a legislation will
be
scheduled for a vote.
